WIP Presentation – Fall 2025
STEER Lab undergraduate researchers Ellie Gevers (Department of Computer Science) and Ariadna Mendoza (Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering) presented their work at the Works in Progress Symposium (WIPS) hosted by the University of Memphis.
Their presentation, titled “Systematic Categorization of Educational Technologies to Support AI-Assisted Selection for Adoption in Engineering Classrooms,” focused on developing a structured approach to organizing and evaluating EdTech tools to support AI-assisted decision-making for instructional adoption in engineering education.
Through their work in the STEER Lab, Ellie and Ariadna contribute to advancing research at the intersection of engineering education, educational technologies, and decision-support tools for educators.

ASEE-SE – Spring 2025
Daniel Hernandez, an undergraduate researcher in the STEER Lab, presented his research at the ASEE Southeastern Section Conference 2025 at Mississippi State University!
His work focuses on developing a decision-making tool to help educators navigate the expanding landscape of EdTech solutions and enhance student learning outcomes. The conference featured engaging discussions, valuable insights, and meaningful connections with professionals committed to advancing engineering education.

Faculty Research Grant Award – Spring 2024
Dr. Farshadmanesh has been awarded 2024 Faculty Research Grant funding from the Herff College of Engineering, in collaboration with Katie Bridson, Assistant Professor of Teaching in the Computer Science Department at the University of Memphis.

ASCE INSPIRE – Fall 2023
Dr. Farshadmanesh had the opportunity to attend the ASCE INSPIRE Conference 2023 in Washington, DC, where she presented her research on modeling cascading hazards. The conference provided a valuable forum for reconnecting with colleagues and engaging in meaningful discussions on current challenges and emerging research directions in infrastructure resilience.
